The limestone ranges formed from the ancient barrier reef expose fossils of reptiles and mammals.
View the towering cliffs of the Devonian reef, look our for aquatic life and waterbirds and search for the freshwater crocodiles during a 1 ½ hour guided boat tour. The experienced guides will give a comprehensive commentary on the geology, wildlife and history of this area. Then it’s off to our campsite with time for a swim and a night spent under the Kimberley stars amongst the amazing Oscar Ranges.
TOUR DAY 2
We arrive at Biridu Aboriginal Community where we spend a fascinating day with a Traditional Land Owner and Bunuba Elder. Take a journey back in time and hear the history of Leopold Downs Homestead. Then it’s off to the wonderfully secluded Top Brooking Gorge for lunch and a refreshing swim.
This beautiful gorge can only be accessed with the escort of a traditional indigenous Bunuba guide. After lunch we view some of the most spectacular ancient aboriginal rock art the Kimberley has to offer which can only be viewed on this tour. Listen as our indigenous guide shares his interpretations of the artwork and their spiritual significance to aboriginal culture.
We arrive at our campsite in Biridu Community and spend the evening around the campfire with our Bunuba Guide and his family hearing the dreamtime stories that surround this magnificent country whilst enjoying tasty bush tucker prepared the traditional way. This ends a truly amazing day.
